Owning a mobile café does have its challenges, but they are so easily overshadowed by the daily benefits we are fortunate enough to take advantage of. We relish in the fact that we get to drive new routes every day, experience new areas, cruise down new windy roads, and learn about industries we had no idea even existed! A large part of our success has come from our positive attitudes and appreciation for opportunities we wouldn’t have otherwise experienced, and I feel it’s so important to set aside occasional moments to reflect …
Last weekend I personally had the opportunity to do an event with the Pi Phi Sorority Class of 1972 from University of Oregon (Go Ducks!). It reminded me of the wonderful people I have met and locations experienced on this journey. For the lovely ladies of Pi Phi, they spent a weekend at one of their sister’s vacation homes in Arch Cape, Oregon (South of Cannon Beach). The sky was blue and the temperature was just perfect. We set up our Espresso Bar & Omelet Bar on their patio overlooking the ocean … Does it get better than this?! To top it off, I even got to work alongside my sister. Afterward, we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Lumberyard, a great walk on the beach and a quiet night. Ahhh …
As Pacific Perks employees, we have also had the opportunity to see the “behind the scenes” and happenings at places like Frito Lay (with lots of free chips to take home!), top floor of the US Bank Tower, Google, Tiffany & Co., Oaks Amusement Park, Evergreen Museum, Nike, Banfield Pet Hospital, SW Humane Society and much more. It has been a blast to learn about each industry and have an ever-changing background to work with.
The Pacific Perks Team has also had the opportunity to meet a few celebrities along the way – some even self-imposed! Hey, if you can offer up a great service in exchange for meeting an idol, why not – right?! We have worked on the sets of Grimm & Portlandia, met Michael J. Fox, Amy Roloff, the crew of the Time Bandit of Deadliest Catch (my favorite), Portland Trail Blazers Jerome Kersey & Terry Porter, Phil Knight and Olympic Gymnast Shawn Johnson
